"Cut out the crab (of going through the co-broking agent)" interrupted the Owner of a conservation house when Asia USA realtor told her that he would refer the matter to the co-broking agent. She had contacted us directly and wanted the telephone number of our Tenant so that she could arrange for him to see a restored conservation house done by the same architect. We said no to her request and would tell our client to contact the Tenant now living in the restored conservation house and would relay the arrangement to her realtor. The co-broking realtor phoned later to inform us. He was informed that we would not want to deal direct with his Owner. In the first place, he had yesterday arranged a meeting with the Owner saying that plans of the conservation house would be available for our client to see. He said the Owner invited us to meet at her American Club but since it was difficult to park, he suggested a hotel. There was no plans available but books on conservation houses. The Owner was not willing to pay for the drinks, inclusive of hers and Asia USA had to pay. First-time realtors to note: Try not to dish out such nonsense to co-broking realtors especially if your Owner is stingy. Don't invite co-brokers to meet and then disappear half way leaving them to pick up the drinks bill. Owners who do not know how to treat realtors with respect will find that they are avoided as much as possible since there are so many good Owners.
