River Place condos
5.15pm
1+1 974 sq. ft $3,400
Tower A1, above 5th floor.
A small study room. Kitchen smaller.
4.30pm
1-bedroom 800 sq. ft $3,500
Tower A4, above 5th floor.
Living area faces wall of opposite building.
Agent said that the unit was rented at $3,500.
2-bedroom maisonettes 1292 sq. ft available at $4,800.
3.45pm
1-bedroom 808 sq. ft $3,400
Tower A3, above 5th floor.
Facing pretty Clarke Quay shophouses, co-ordinated wooden
furnishings, bright and bigger kitchen. Separate European
washer and dryer stacked up. A custom-made wooden cabinet
which opens out to become a computer table is unique.
Rectangular bathroom.
4.45pm
1-bedroom 800 sq. ft $3,000
Tower B1, above 5th floor. A persistent musky odour
emanates from the master bedroom. Could be the damp
mattress. A balcony facing Havelock Road and some
green. Large circular dining table does not seem to fit in
this apartment. Good rental price.
CONCLUSION
Liked Tower A3, above 5th floor well cleaned unit a lot.
Offer of $3,500 given by another expat, corporate lease, on
the same evening, without asking for a change of the white
kitchen sink which had been deeply stained dark brown.
$3,500 accepted by the Landlord.

5.30pm
1+1 974 sq. ft $3,500
Tower A4, facing pool and some river views. A small balcony.
A small study room with a sliding door is used as a dining
area for 4 people. It is air conditioned and can be
used as a guest room.
The kitchen smaller but has an oven installed by the
Landlord. The living area is made smaller by a massive
built in cabinet at one side, housing a 31-inch TV.
A sofa bed in the living area. A wall mirror in the
dining area makes condo look spacious. A washer cum
dryer has been bought. Singaporean occupant still sun
clothing in the small balcony. Looks quite spacious
despite the massive wall cabinet in the living area.
5.45pm
1 bedroom 780 sq. ft 4th floor $3,500
Tower A2, with balcony.
NOTES:
2 units seen yesterday with agents were rented at
$3,500 fully furnished.
1-bedroom 780 sq. ft .
Tower A, 5th floor. Owner has rejected offers of $3,500.
Picture shows a beautifully furnished bachelor's
2-bedroom. An example of what furniture young Caucasian
single like in furnishing a 2-bedroom.
2-bedroom River Place renting above $4,500 as at June 2001.
Balconies may also be useful to an expatriate spouse who
smokes as the other spouse may want the inside of the
apartment to be smoke-free.

Tuesday, June 19, 2001 BRITISH EXPAT COUPLE NO CHILDREN wants a big condo
without noisy children. Budget $5,000 - $6,000.
1.15 p.m Nassim Regency 3+1 2000 sq. ft
$6,000. Near Botanic Gardens.
#09-03 has most greenery views of the Botanic Gardens and
city views.
#10-01 has houses and green tree views but not so exciting
as #09-03.
Tall green trees, pretty bungalows with inground pools and
tranquility seen from Nassim Regency condos which is a block
of 11 floors, a 5-10 minute walk to the Botanic Gardens.
Tall green trees in the living room which drops a level off
the dining area. No balcony but the floor plans suits most
Caucasians.
Spacious kitchen faces greenery too.
Master bedroom with corner windows and above tree views from
above 8th floor units.
Also available for rent:
#02-02 faces trees and a large mansion owned. Did not like
this low floor.
1.45pm Highpoint 4-bedroom 3000 sq.
ft fully renovated. $6,500. 6th floor. Facing
The Elizabeth Hotel walls. No balcony. The family area has
been converted to a good sized 4th bedroom which can be a
study room.
1.55pm Highpoint 3-bedroom. Renovated with
floral white ceramic tiled flooring. $6,500. Kitchen
sandwiched between maid's room and another area. No windows.
However, more open floor plan as the family area has not
been converted to the 4th bedroom. It has a big balcony.
Looks bright and spacious.
The family area with a balcony makes this Highpoint
condo spacious. June 2001 Rent is $6,500.
Balconies appeal to Caucasian expatriates but many Owners
have had closed up the
2.15pm Horizon Tower East 4+1 2400 sq. ft
$5,800. Original condition with white grey marble
flooring, carpeted bedrooms and dark brown long bath in
master bathroom. Did not appreciate this unit.
CONCLUSION. The Nassim Regency #09-03 unit was love at first
sight as it had a wide green blanket of green tree jungle
and city views above tree levels unblemished by bungalows on
ground level unlike the #10-01 unit. The latter had a large
canvass of greenery too.
Aspen Heights were considered too crowded
with noisy kids and it is a high density over 600-unit
condo. The Quayside's 3-bedroom unit was
too small. River Place's 3-bedroom of 1600
sq. ft asking above $6,000 was too expensive per sq. ft for
this couple with a $5,000 - $6,000.
