Orchard Parksuites	1-bedroom, 646 sq. ft, from $7,200	2-level with master bedroom & bathroom upstairs. Living area & kitchen downstairs. No washer or dryer. Use in-house launderette.
	2-bedroom, 943 sq. ft, from $7,800. Has a small balcony.	One level. No washer or dryer unless the common bathroom is taken up to accommodate the washer cum dryer. Use in-house launderette. 1-min walk to Somerset subway. Top rent.
Somerset Compass	2-bedroom 1062 sq. ft 2-bedroom + study 1174 sq. ft from $5,600 - $5,700.	Has a utility area to accommodate the washer & dryer. Floor layout more like a condo. Not associated with any shopping centre unlike the other units seen. 10-min walk to Cuppage Centre or Somerset subway.
Somerset Grand Cairnhill	No vacancy for 2-bedroom from $6,700 depending on floor level and whether it is a premier 2-bedroom.	Use in-house launderette. However, premier 2-bedrooms may have a washer cum dryer. 5-min walk to Somerset subway.
Somerset Orchard	No vacancy for 2-bedroom as at Oct 11, 2000.	Use in-house launderette. Next to Cuppage Centre but no vacancy.
The Ascott	2-bedroom 1260 sq. ft from $7,800 - $9,600 (deluxe).	Deluxe rooms may have piping to install the washer cum dryer. Use in-house launderette. 2-min walk to Orchard subway. Big pool and gym but facilities are older compared to Somerset Compass and Orchard Parksuites.

Conclusion:
Somerset Compass seems to be the most suitable as there is the private use of the washer and dryer, without having to go to the common in-house launderette. Mr & Mrs Gupta may prefer a bigger apartment which permits the private use of a washer & dryer. A possibility of renting a car means that they can live further out of downtown and in bigger apartments so that they have room for their visiting children. The rent of downtown serviced apartments is higher per sq. ft.
