You got Tenant,
Owner's Realtors? |
Date:
September 2, 2000
Place: Melrose Park condos, Singapore.
Time: 4.35 p.m.
Weather: Hot, sunny and humid.
My associate James and I were house-hunting with a German expat. We were behind
schedule as the realtor of a Futura condo claimed that we had not confirmed the
appointment fixed at 3.30 p.m. the day before and then said the appointment was supposed
to be 4 p.m.
She was rushing down with her son in a taxi and asked us to wait 5 minutes. It was
4.10 p.m. when she arrived with her young son.
So we were late for the Melrose Park appointment with an Owner Henry.
The Owner wanted to us to meet him at the guard post. I went up to the Melrose Park
apartment with one realtor Shirley while James would contact the Owner Henry.
This was a mysterious Owner who only wanted us to meet him at the guard post and not at
his apartment. James said the mobile phone of the Henry was not answering and there
was no way he could contact Henry. We could not even tell Henry that we were late or
would be leaving.
"Try again," I said as we drove out of Melrose Park for another belated
appointment. It would be courteous to inform owners or agents if there was a
cancellation.
There was a response from Henry's mobile phone. However, voice was garbled, as if
the signals were breaking up.
"Wait at guard post.." I said from my parked car as Singapore's laws take away
the driver's licence if he is caught driving and talking on the mobile phone.
A quick 1-minute car reverse back to the guard post as the Kellock Road was one way.
No traffic cops coming from the River
Valley Road to Kellock Road fortunately.
"Keep the communication open to locate Henry as he would be the one with the mobile
next to his ears," I said to James as I drove past the guard post with no Henry in
sight. |
Signals
cracking up again. Downtown Singapore. Transmission telecom signals should be strong
as the 3 phone companies are located nearby.
Just in time. There were the 3 lady and 1 male realtors at the pool side entrance to
Melrose Park.
3 were familiar faces camped at Melrose Park and one of them was using the handphone
maintaining contact with us..
It was hilarious as we saw Henry was actually a realtor we knew. I explained I had
seen the unit with Shirley and Melrose Park was great in quality but too small for the
German expat.
To date, I still can't figure out why this realtor wanted to advertise as Owner? His
newspaper advertisement as an Owner was captured in the internet data base which I
had accessed. It is one effective means of getting prospective agents to touch base
with the rental realtors with expat clientele.
It is one of the mysterious of life. However, it is best not to take life seriously
though by scolding fellow co-broking agents. The German expat did not say a word nor
comment but I wonder what he thinks of Singapore's realtors?
P.S
Melrose Park is brand new and there are several units for rent. Expats like this
quality condo, the main complaint being that it has no balcony.
Some images are:
Walk-in closet in master bedroom.
Image above shows the walk-in wardrobe of the master bedroom. Rarely do you get
walk-in closets in modern condos in Singapore.
Plantar box for plant in living area which has cream coloured marble flooring.
Block 2, units .....-02 above 7 floors face the Singapore River (canal) and is breezy.
A water taxi service will be available in Dec 2000.
