TIPS FOR
EXPATRIATE TENANTS |
This 2003 ASIAHOMES research report gives a brief review of bungalows and
alternative housing for expatriates relocating to Singapore.
Bungalows with an inground pool and big garden, of a high standard in a
good expatriate enclave area desired by Caucasian wives are usually
renting above $10,000.
It may be better to check out other types of housing or condos if the
rental budget is around $5,000 - $14,000 per month.
In Singapore, there are at least 6 classes of bungalows of interest to
Caucasian expatriates. These are:
1. Good class bungalows. Bungalows are in exclusive residential enclaves
and you seldom see high rises next to you. Rent vary from $12,000 for
unrenovated old ones to $30,000 per month for brand new ones.
2. Bungalows with inground pool, above ground pool or no pool.
Land sizes vary from 5,000 sq. ft to 30,000 sq. ft. Rent varies from
$5,000 - $20,000. UPDATE IN 2011. Rentals are usually from
$15,000 now.
3. Cluster bungalows may be the same as strata bungalows. More

4. Bungalows near the American School. Those huge ones with 7
bedrooms and with above-ground or inground pools rent from

6. Colonial or black and white bungalows. Some rent as high as
$15,000. Others are for tender from $5,000 but the Tenants have to
do their own "renovation" and install their own swimming pools. |
